What you will experience

Behavioral Interview

A behavioral interview assesses candidates' fit for a job by examining past actions and outcomes through the STAR method to help guide the interview process method.

Practicing can boost confidence, improve structures responses, reduces anxiety, and increases your chances of securing the job.

Portfolio Interview

A portfolio review in UX refers to the process of evaluating and assessing a designer's design decision and research approach, typically presented in presentation to gauge their skills, experience, and suitability for a UX- related role.

Please ensure you have at least 3 case studies in your portfolio.

Take-Home Assignment

A take-home assignment is a task given to job applicants during the hiring process to assess problem-solving abilities, and approach to UX design or research. Then present design solution to stakeholder and answer questions.

Applicants can work at their own pace within a maximum 8 hours time frame.

At the end of each interview, you will have 10 minutes to collect feedback from your performance and ask questions.

A maximum of 25 Observers with muted mic may attend the Interview Mockup sessions.

Who can participate in this program?
The UX challenge is open to designers of all experience levels. There are two participation tiers: - Client Facing participant: Who engage directly with clients, has a higher price rate, and constant feedback from business owners or stakeholders. - Exploring Participants: Who work on the same challenges but without direct client interaction

What is the UX Challenge?
The UX Design Challenge is a 6-week intensive program where participants work in teams to solve real-world design problems for actual clients. It’s an opportunity to enhance your design skills, collaborate with skilled peers, and produce portfolio-worthy work.

What if I miss the registration deadline?
If you miss the registration deadline you can register for the next challenge season, your spot may be offered to someone on the waitlist. It’s important to complete the registration and payment as soon as possible to secure your participation

What are the time commitments?
The UX Challenge requires a time commitment similar to a part-time job, with an expectation of 10 to 20 hours of effort per week. This ensures you can give your best to the project, support your team effectively, and deliver outstanding results to showcase at the end.

What are the key dates for the challenge?
Spring Program - Registration starts in January 2025 and close at end of February 2025 - Kick off at middle March. Fall Program - Registration starts in July 2025 and close at end of August 2025 - Kick off at middle September 2025

Registration Fee
- Client-facing Participants is CAD $500 and - Exploring Participants CAD $400. This fee is due upon registration to secure your spot in the challenge while we do the pre-screening of candidates. If you are not accepted to the program our system immediately return 100% of the money back.

How are participants assigned to teams?
Participants are grouped into teams based on their skillsets, availability, preferences, and the needs of each project. We strive to create balanced teams with diverse skills and backgrounds to ensure team and project success.

Can I cancel and get a refund after payment completes?
Refunds are not available once the challenge begins. If you have a health condition, we will review your case individually. Otherwise, refunds are processed only before the event starts.
