PHASE 1
Research & Discovery:
Delve deep, setting aside biases to genuinely understand user perspectives. Analyze research data, craft problem statements, and develop personas guide to focus on creating designs that resonate with real users.
Methods: User interviews, surveys, secondary research, competitive analysis, heuristic evaluation.
Define:
Build upon research insights and distil the gathered information into precise problem statements and define the scope of our design challenge.Articulate goals and objectives that will guide the design process. Through focused analysis and synthesis, we clarify the essence of the design problem and set the stage for creative ideation and strategic decision-making.
Methods: User persona, HMW (How Might We), task analysis, journey mapping, or user stories
PHASE 2
Ideate and Prototype:
With a solid understanding of the problem and gathered information, it's time to generate creative solutions using brainstorming techniques. Think outside the box to identify innovative solutions, aiming to find the best possible solution for each identified problem. To test these ideas, create inexpensive, scaled-down versions of the product or specific features using paper prototyping or other low-fidelity methods.
Methods: Affinity mapping, journey mapping, sketches, wireframes, design mockups, screen flows, prototypes.
Testing:
In this crucial phase, we put our ideas to the test and iterate for perfection. Rigorous testing ensures the user experience aligns seamlessly with our design goals. Through user feedback and usability testing, we refine and enhance our solutions, striving for optimal user satisfaction. This iterative process is the key to delivering a polished and user-centric final product.
Methods: Usability testing, Quantitative and qualitative usability test data, iteration, learning insights, next steps, etc.
PHASE 3
Crafting a compelling case study holds paramount importance for UX designers. It serves as a showcase of your process, detailing the user problem addressed and the innovative solution you devised. Case studies act as a secret weapon in two ways: they not only impress potential employers by providing deeper insights into your work than a resume or cover letter ever could but also significantly enhance your chances of securing valuable opportunities.
The submission of your final case study, along with documentation links and a recorded video, opens the door for the ultimate review of this UX design challenge. It marks the culmination of your efforts and an opportunity to shine in the eyes of evaluators.
IterateUX provides a platform for designers to practice design tools, create case studies, receive feedback from mentors, and network with other designers from around the world.
This design challenge will allow you to practice and grow as a designer, gain experience with collaboration and communication skills, and keep you up to date on new tools, trends, and processes.
A design challenge in a portfolio showcases the designer's ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems effectively and aesthetically within a set timeframe, giving clients and employers insight into their real-world capabilities.
Collaboration enhances teamwork, problem-solving, innovation, efficiency, success, and communication by listening and learning from team members to achieve shared goals.
IterateUX provides design workshops, resources, and mentors to guide you through challenges, offering constructive feedback, diverse perspectives, and emotional support to help you overcome obstacles and expand your network.
As a Mentor, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting participants throughout the challenge. Your valuable insights and advice will help them navigate the complexities of the task at hand.
We will be providing a certificate at the end of the challenge in recognition of your invaluable support to the participants and also a shoutout to your contribution in all our social media channels.
